Summers sounds like he was trying to talk himself into BO.

My personal opinion is that most people who sound like they don't know what they're talking about---don't. I'm disinclined to assume that the public display of ignorance can be properly characterized as "thoughtful."

Larry Summers once said of Barack Obama, "When I've heard him talk about economic issues—with the exception of NAFTA, where I just hope he doesn't believe what he says [I would roll my eyes, but they are permanently pointed towards the ceiling from reading this sort of stuff] —he seems intelligent and serious. I wouldn't say I'm bowled over by the brilliance of anything I've heard, but everything has a kind of thoughtfulness to it that's sort of impressive." [Snake oil, baby, snake oil. Didn't they ever compare what someone said to what they did at Harvard or Treasury?]
