For me, server response has been fine for several weeks now. I always use Orders7. Execution has been spotty, with higher volume stocks being the bad ones. Datek was providing very fast execution of marketable limit orders in these same stocks on same volume up until two months ago. Now every order is an adventure. I have had good execution on lower volume Nasdaq stocks, but I don't trade these regularly, so I can't judge whether this is the rule. Interestingly, NYSE orders have worked well for me through Datek, even though they don't represent them directly. Nasdaq is supposed to be Datek's specialty.

I had pretty mixed results for executios today. I lost profits due to the slow execution of the short covering in the morning.

I covered a DELL short with a market order. It sat there for almost 2 minutes before order processing began. A commission was charged. Volume 23,921,800 shares.

Order entered at 10:23:34 on 10/28/97
Order processing began at 10:25:18
Order executed at 10:25:32 on 10/28/97

-----

I covered a SPY short with a market order. Order processing began immediately but it took more then 9 minutes before I got my shares. No commission was charged. Volume 19,506,300 shares.

Order entered at 10:34:12 on 10/28/97
Order processing began at 10:34:20
Order executed at 10:43:37 on 10/28/97

-----

I bought LGNDW with a marketable limit order. This happened within 10 seconds. LGNDW has almost no volume - 35700 shares for the day.

Order entered at 11:11:16 on 10/28/97
Order processing began at 11:11:20
Order executed at 11:11:25 on 10/28/97

I sold AMZN short at 12:52:59 with a non marketable limit order and got my limit price 4 minutes later. In this case I would not have complained about a few minutes delay.

-----

I bought ORCTF with a market order and got a execution within 10 seconds. Volume 424,000.

Order entered at 15:32:33 on 10/28/97
Order processing began at 15:32:36
Order executed at 15:32:40 on 10/28/97
