Freedom is not Free. Condolences for SSgt Beale's family. We have 7 to mourn today. I for one would like to know the end game for the involvement of US conventional forces in Afghanistan and how the surge gets us there. I am not buying Gates assertion that the US Armed Forces must become more SOF like. When you take SF out of the current SOF mix, all you have left are conventional units practising small unit raid tactics. The US has become the best at kicking down doors on civilian homes...but that tactic never won a war. Nor are we going to win a war of attrition. US Forces are outnumbered over 100:1 by the extremists. Gates et all are setting us up for a series of small losses that will embolden our major adversaries.
