The FBI, responding to roiling suggestions online and on cable that Sarah Palin's abrupt resignation may have been triggered by an inquiry into a construction project in Wasilla -- or some other federal investigation -- has stated publicly that she's in the clear, the Anchorage Daily News reports. "We are not investigating her,” FBI spokesman Eric Gonzalez told the paper. "Normally we don’t confirm or deny those kind of allegations out there but by not doing so it just casts her in a very bad light. There is just no truth to those rumors out there in the blogosphere.” Palin had hit back hard at the suggestions, with her lawyer calling them "defamatory" in a long letter to the media.
