You've never understood the nature of backlash. Which I suppose is typical of extremists.

Extremes are not only provoking, they are threatening to people bound in a cultural identity that is not represented by the extremist. Extremists, of course, justify their cruel conduct by pointing to the extremists who are from some polar opposite camp. However the vast majority of people are not extreme and they react to extreme conduct by simply rejecting it.

Backlash always follows extreme conduct. When the youth saw peaceful anti-war protesters being treated cruelly in the sixties, it resulted in the whole country getting stoned by the seventies and the consciousness of the nation turned anti-war for nearly 4 decades.

Cruelty piled on a decent woman will bring a backlash of empathy and probably a trend, even a wave of change, more likely resembling her mannerisms than yours.
