I cannot remember anything in the history of Los Angeles more absurd than what they're doing for this tribute to Michael Jackson.

In addition to 24/7 repetitions on the news, interviews with fans/mourners, bouncing from the parents home in Encino, to Forest Lawn where the memorials will be tomorrow, to the place in Bel Air where he rented the house, to UCLA where he died, to the Staples Center, over and over again, they've closed down a square mile of downtown Los Angeles. Hundreds of cops, sanitation workers, support personnel, traffic control, crowd control. And who gets to pay for this? The taxpayers. AEG the company who promoted his tour stands to make millions on the video and collateral souvenirs.

Last month when the Lakers had their parade to the coliseum, it cost $2 million but the money was raised from private donations.

Then the gangs came out and roamed through downtown looting businesses. Any excuse will do. Can't imagine what's going to happen tomorrow because of the millions who are being denied access to the "festivities".

It's a world gone nuts.

This was posted on the PfP thread earlier today. THIS is what people should be paying attention to and turning out for:

Honoring a Fallen Soldier - SSgt. John Beale

Georgia welcoming home a Fallen Soldier - SSgt. John Beale from McDonough, GA who made the ultimate sacrifice for his country on June 4, 2009 in Afghanistan.

Get out the kleenex because this will hit the core of your Patriotic American Heart.
