I think you misunderstood what I said. Planned obsolescence to me is planning for the probably event that a good or a service become obsolete. Tech companies do it all the time by investing in future products and services, as their old products and services lose their competitive edge. When oil prices move above $100 and $200 and stay that way, oil will lose its competitive edge. If we wait until that happens and have no alternatives ready, it's going to be very painful for our economy.
