I don't need to check the time line. He resigned his senate seat right before he was sworn in as president.

The possibility you are wrong doesn't exist does it?

Obama resigned his Senate seat in November 2008, after he was elected President.

That was the right time. Otherwise being a Senator and President Elect would've been a conflict, separation of powers and all that.
