The obscenity of war is lost on most Americans

It is the way of the liberal western media that they deem all lost wars as unnecessary, obscene, pointless.

The fact is that when LBJ, and JFK before him, started the American fighting in Vietnam, there was a reason for it. One can argue about whether the reason was "good enough" -- just as some currently do about the Iraq War, but when JFK and LBJ made their decisions, they made them with the information that was available at the time.

The truth is that the Vietnam war could have been won, and had it been, we would look back on it differently. We would envision that we saved S. Vietnam from an undesirable destiny and that it was a good and righteous thing to have done.

Johnson and McNamara should have been looking out for those kids,

That's right. They should have been looking out just as Bush should have been looking out for a new generation of young men and women. It makes me sick how these leaders were so ready to have these people fight senseless wars.

The last 8 years have taught me a lot about American leaders and their lack of humanity.
