But I don't think Palin, like GW, really had any idea of what she, or he, wanted to do. Conservatives really do not have a comprehensive social philosophy. They have visceral reactions and rhetoric they put forth, but not really a comprehensive idea of a complex social science structure for society, or even a comprehensive philosophy. With bush it was just a collage of ideas. Tax cuts for teh rich, help corporate America, and fight their enemies. Bush was never thinking about comprehensive health care or even a serious revision of the health care system, or social security system, just privatize everything and all will be well. Conservatives live their lives off of a primitive cultural script, by and large. They have no need to learn anything because they just follow the bible and pray to god for what they need. If one goes to conservative threads and looks at the posts. They are not comprehensive ideas of a fully worked out philosophy of life or society filled with science and logic. Their posts there, by and large, are just ones of emotional outrage, none of which they really understand or care to understand. They live in the here and now with "script directed perception" looking at life through the prism of their upbringing and seldom straying too far away from that upbringing. E.g. " where is Obama's birth cirtificate, "I don't want government between me and my doctor (never understanding it is even worse having the health insurance companies between you and your doctor); or "Obama wants to socialize America. They have no idea what that really means, or the fact every nation is a socialized nation to one degree or another. Palin engages in very little thought and that was always her downfall, and ours.
