Of course. The secular build-up of debt relative to inflation is what ultimately causes the economic depression.

Small recessions may not be fun, but they prevent "the big show" from occurring.

Its going to be difficult to find another suitable bubble like the dot.com or housing bubble. Of the two, the housing bubble was outstanding, and will be hard to replace or repeat.

New home construction-buying is a very quick way of getting a lot of dollars into the economy. Everyone benefits enormously, from real construction jobs to the scammy banks. It puts a lot of cash into the system quickly. I can't think of an alternative to such a boost, but I am sure they are trying. And doing their damndest, trying to reflate the housing industry as well.
