Even with me doing it, it's costing a full grand. We're replacing redwood, which is good decking but doesn't hold paint in the environment we have, with Moisture Shield, a product made out of milk bottles and wood particles. It's supposed to be very durable. We shall see.

I did that a couple years ago. I had a new deck built of TREX. Cost me about $2500 but I'll never have to do a thing to maintain it or ever replace it.
