Yes, it is power politics - played by politicians - and the net outcome will be politicians holding the strings to the purse containing 17% of the GDP. And now, it comes out that industry leadership had been "strong-armed" into keeping their mouths shut. That's not the American way. That's not what made America a successful nation. On this thread we have an open debate - people offer different views and approaches. And that's the way it should be - we all learn. The same should be happening on a national scale. Intimidating entire sectors of healthcare into keeping silent may be in the interests of misguided politicians - but not the public.
