Just because I paid $820 for my Dell Inspiron 530 Q6600 doesn't make it low quality and that the company has low margin on it.<<

Of course I have been on Dell's site. And I've seen their computers, close up. I've taken them apart and worked on them. Recently. The current Apple line is extremely well built across the board, and I can't say that about the Dells, although I'm sure they've improved, too.

As far as profitability goes, you need only look at any Dell quarterly report to find out that they have low margins. I'm not putting the company down. They do a good job, but essentially, they aren't trying to do the same thing Apple is doing.

I thought of something else regarding the statement above. Dell's line may appeal to a broad range of customers, but it doesn't appeal to everybody. The customer segment that includes a large majority of Apple's customers aren't likely to find anything at dell.com to suit them.
