[Google Chrome OS] It certainly looks like Google's planned OS is a realization of John Gage's The network is the computer motto. Privacy will be a major consideration. But Windows will certainly also partially evolve towards server-centric functions in spite of its origins on personal computers.

It will be interesting how Google solves the Windows compatibility challenge. Will they ignore the huge number of Windows applications?

For any privacy-paranoid user there are alternatives: get a Linux distribution and compile your OS and applications yourself. There are distributions which require personal compilation, like Gentoo Linux.
