I think Friedman's view is that our entire system of legislation is flawed. In addition, we have a minority party that simply doesn't want to do anything at all about global warming and does not want to invest heavily in renewable energy. So Friedman's view is that as bad as this Cap and Trade bill is, it does have some good things in it that we're not likely to get at all if we don't move forward with this bill.

Although, I agree with his sentiment, I would vote against the bill, if I was in power. I'd rather not have a big drain on the economy that has some silver linings. I'd rather do without a bad bill, then take a bill that is 20% good and 80% bad.
