I use a CapitalOne Visa just for the miles; pay it off every month and there are no extra charges, and I get a free plane ticket or two somewhere every year.

Otherwise I would just use a debit card. In fact, I do that for some spare funds I keep at ETrade. I don't trust their banking arm so I use a brokerage account with a debit card and the end result is the same. I'll just never have to rely on FDIC to get my money back.
