Maybe that was the reaction by some, but mine was opposite. I have always been grateful that various people [you, ftth the person, wireless wonk, petere, jochen on Linux, and many others] have taken the time to gently correct and point me in the right direction.

Personally, I feel learning never ends, especially from those who may know the same things, but see them differently. Forty years ago, the idea that one could easily access enormous expertise was inconceivable: it simply wasn't done. Such people were squirreled away in the towers of their specialty, communicating only with their own, or through conferences, peer groups and presentations. The opportunity to share ideas with leaders in various fields - even to disagree in debate at times - has been priceless.

These days, it's accepted, even taken for granted. It shouldn't be.
