Nonsense.

The unions look out for their people. Google, in buying insurance for its employees, wants to attract the best talent available. As does pretty much everyone else.

Sure, there are some businesses who just want to be able to say, "Yeah, we have health insurance" -- without giving a crap whether they're providing something of value. But that's not the case with most.

Most of the employer provided insurance I deal with is pretty much excellent. Occasionally, you see a policy that stinks, but they are not that commonplace.

In general, if claims are being a problem, you'll find government involvement at the other end of it. Medicare, Medicaid, state Workers Comps, etc. All lousy. But UHC, Humana, BCBS, etc., these are all pretty decent most of the time.
