It's a tiny portion of insurance companies health care revenue. It doesn't drive innovation or change back through the medical industry. Private buyers are an after thought to the industry.

You're talking about a market of 20 million customers and $120 Billion/year in sales.

There are insurance companies who do nothing but sell insurance to this market. And there are companies who sell only group insurance. It is a totally different market. They don't compete AT ALL with each other.

If there were meaningful innovations, a market of this size would certainly wring them out.
