K MAC:
OK.
Valuation is the most important thing. The co. earned 20 cts/shr
reported for the Q ended Sept. 30, 1997. The 10-Q still has not
been filed, but I thought I saw somewhere that the 3rd Q still had
a sizeable restructuring charge that was factored in. I personally
thought that the report was a good one, and appeared to be more of
an "upside surprise". They are still chewing off the Cascade
merger, and hope it is being digested well.
If the co.s have synergy, this has got to be a winner down the
line. The co. in the next 12 mos. will be doing well over a billion
in sales, with good margins. So, we trade at a 5.5 billion market
cap. That's not bad, considering the revs. and growth.
If ASND appears overpriced, it's because all great co.s have been
overpriced. It would look cheap to a SUITOR.

<<Growth appears to be slowing to me. That is all I meant. If you read
my post I still like the company and especially when it is priced in the
20's. I just don't have the expectations I used to.>>

Sorry to jump on you. This volatility has everyone nervous and your
comments came just after MRVC had dropped 7 points in two days and
just hours after I placed a heavy call bet. Forgive me for that, please.
I was incorrect as well as I posted from memory and the earning report
and I forget about the $39M qtr between the $35M and the $42M qtr.

There is a story here I will relate. I had placed calls yesterday
morning, betting on a good earnings last night. Then, just 10 minutes
before the close, I decided to buy 20 more calls at the market - Jan '30s,
which were at $2 5/16. Then trading got halted and the trade did not take
place. Earnings were very good and I felt bad I didn't get the extra
calls. This AM MRVC dropped another 2 points at the open - and my calls
executed at $1.50! Then the market turned, Bear Stearns reiterated a buy
and MRVC rose 7 points! I ended up selling them at $3.875 in the late P.M.

Quite proud of myself I am, yes indeed! My first legitimate day trade
and a good one! If I keep this up, I'll have to rename to Sector Trader! <GGG>
