Yep... Know Nothings revival.... (I really doubt that it will ever amount to anything much more then a temporarily diverting 'Michael Jackson-style' media sideshow....) Good for supplying red meat to the 'base', and drumming up campaign contributions in small denominations, (all useful...), but even public-Palin-backer and prominent NeoCon Bill Kristol has a sly twinkle in his eye when he spins his televised prognostications about her 'future'.... :-) Nature abhors a vacuum so... (until the next 'real' leader comes along), people make do with their fantasies. As the previous commentary noted... even Ronald Reagan (while proudly 'not an intellectual') was still widely read and deeply steeped in the major policy choices of the time.... There just is no substitute for doing the work.
