I have been looking at Investco. Ross just opened up a new mortgage REIT, IVR. I'm not even sure that they have any investments in place yet. Ross is slowing becoming a big player in the mortgage markets, since he acquired AHM a few years ago. Investco also has another fund, IVZ, that has over $300 billion in assets. The yield doesn't really reflect anything that is all that interesting, but that could change if they put alot of PPIP money into the fund. Investco raised about $200 billion for PPIP, but I'm not sure where it will go or how long it will take.

Blackrock is the other obvious choice. They have made some great deals with Barclays to acquire their asset mgmt division, and they raised $5 billion for PPIP. I'm not sure why they raised that much cash, unless they expect PPIP to get alot bigger than the original $40 billion, which only requires $10 billion from the 9 participating firms.

It was not a shock to see Pimco back down from PPIP. Gross is only ever about all talk, and very little action.
