The drought in California is not caused by warming. It is caused by ocean currents. Specifically the El Nino/La Nina cycle. California has been unusually cool this year. But you really can't make any judgement on global warming by looking at isolated local temperatures. The simple fact is that the globe has been in a cooling trend for 11 years now. This in spite of growing (but meaningless) anthropogenic CO2 levels.

If we get real famine inducing global cooling, do we get to blame the liberals for cutting off greenhouse gases that could have saved our lives?

that's a joke....as you know, the anthropogenic greenhouse gases aren't really raising global temperatures, so they sure as hell couldn't save us in the face of the coming global cooling.
