Something is wrong with this thread when Albert is kicked off and there are all the posters of dross and drivel who are incapable of posting any press releases, news or information. I expressed my views to the webmistress, who kindly but not persuasively responded.

You didn't hear very well, Jerry said that most of AMD's output would be at 0.25 micron by 3Q '98. Since Intel has to convert 4-5 fabs to say the same thing, I don't think it will happen before then.

By then the world would have moved to the slot1

Intel's own forecast is that by Q3, 50% of its output would be Slot 1. By then, everyone will be looking forward to the more advanced Alpha bus, which, guess what, both AMD and Intel will have licenses to use.
