Tom of course it counts.. and type of education counts. Learning to think counts.. I have two sisters.. one is a top ranked US skating coach... the other is a Canadian steel company president :O) Neither has university completed.. well one has some one has none.. OTOH I have two cousins with scads of university that are high up in the business world and well respected. Very savvy...

My wife has a Masters in Science and I never finished except Pub and a one year diploma :O) I make/made much more as a software consultant/programmer.. She does the budget because she is incredibly reliable and organised.. I run the wealth generation because I do that better, she would buy term deposits having no appetite for risk .. :O)

My family (dad and his siblings) built a Chinese food business in Montreal which shipped all over Canada and the US.. was sold to McCains (Canadian food conglomerate) about ten years ago.. My uncle, who started it had grade 6, spoke 3 languages well, served in the navy in WWII and was about the smartest businessman I every met.. Only my dad had university in the bunch..

A lot of it is right place right time.. and THINKING.. I do not say education is not important.. but simply lots of 'credentials' do not make you smart or give you special insight.. The path to them can certainly help those that think I agree.. Just look at the parade of fools passing as investment gurus with credentials...

A broad education and learning to think gives you freedom. Degrees do not necessarily make you worth listening to.

How many experts in the government and on Wall street have led us down the road to financial perdition..
