I would buy one. Did you know that 99% of Americans drive less than 60 miles per day? 80% drive less than 40 miles per day.

Yeah.. you and your BS statistics... Just like GW, you have the torture the data until you get the result you desire, not what is represented by reality.

You have no understanding of the concept of a "family vacation" do you? Load up the car, and often drive more than 500 miles or more to visit some national park or Disneyland/World. So now we have to own a SEPARATE CAR just for those kinds of situations?? That's not very efficient, or smart.

Hell, I would have been screwed these past 4 months had I been required to relegate my distance to 200-250 miles. I drove to and from Houston (about 2000 miles each way) packing a ton of stuff we required while my father was in the hospital.

If I had been forced to use an all electric vehicle, that trip would have taken 10 days, and any savings in fuel would have been eaten up by having to sleep in hotel rooms.

80% drive less than 40 miles per day on average. Maybe so, but that doesn't mean anyone would buy a car that could only take them 40 miles at a time.

I'm an example. I drive less than 40 mi per day on average. BUT not all days are average. And some non-average days can be important.

If my wife's car broke down near downtown .... sorry honey, can't come and get you. Nope, can't pick up the grandkids from day care today ... might be able to get there, but we couldn't get home. A daughter has a gall bladder operation and she's in a hospital in the med center .... no, can't go visit her - again, I might be able to get there, but couldn't get home.

A 40 mile range car would mean you couldn't travel more than 20 miles with no side trips or errands run. Impossible in major urban areas. Even in rural areas - my elderly parents go to the doctor in a town 20 miles away.

Better to back to horses and buggies.

A 40 mile range car would be useless.
