That may be true also, but I recall reading it in several places where most all of the gasoline-powered vehicles were running on alcohol shortly after the massive bombing raids on the huge refineries at Ploesti. homeofheroes.com

The formula you mention sounds more like a supplement for diesel. You have to admit, the Germans were rather smart and resourceful. We were very lucky to have stomped them before their ME-262 and other jet aircraft were produced is usable numbers. They also had a 'flying wing' like Northrup's that could have reached NYC, Baltimore, DC and Norfolk and round-tripped it home.

FWIW, the used ethanol produced from potatoes to fuel the V-2
rockets, making the food shortages towards the end of the war worse.
