Yesterday, on a Canadian radio talk show, the host played the audio from the Youtube video and then interviewed Dave.

Excellent reaction to an airline's stone wall.
Simply fly over it.

IIRC, after the Youtube Video/Song 1 release, United phoned him leaving a voice message (Finally requesting what he wanted.). He did not return the call.
[I was actually working at the time of the interview; so I didn't digest all of it. :-) ]

$1,200.00 for a guitar repair is (hopefully) a small price for the publicity he's receiving for this incident. AND... I believe (hope) United will come up with a suitable settlement in the end… Hopefully with a profit for Dave to go along with his and his band's new popularity.

I have a mental picture of United's lawyers thrashing away, even working overtime, trying to quash this little problem.
Lawyers, from what I understand, probably charge a higher hourly rate than luthiers.
