I've met and discussed this topic with a large number of soldiers -- 10s, maybe 100 or more -- and I've yet to have one tell me that TV news is an accurate reflection of what happens.

What exactly are your soldiers telling you that's so different from CNN?

BTW I'll admit......I've only talked to two but I don't believe you when you say you've talked to 100.

Soldiers are just tools of policy, government workers with guns. We don't really care what the IRS clerk thinks of the tax code, do we? I don't ask my hammer what it thinks of the nail it just pounded. Soldiers are there to take direction from civilian authority, from their Commander in Chief.

Our soldiers today are just poor chumps, directed by W, our worst president, to fight these pointless, pissing match, dick-measuring guerrilla wars. A sad result of really bad foreign policy, just as with Vietnam.

Who really gives a damn what they think? We don't pay them for thinking.
