No to belabor the point, but..... There were earlier uses of ethanol in the U.S. and abroad. Henry Ford used an alcohol concoction to power his first cars until the much cheaper oil became available. More famously, Germany used cellulosic (not corn) ethanol to power its military machine during World War II after the Allies successfully denied oil to the Nazi regime.

This makes the E-15 mix upgrade, the slow roll-out of E-85 (FlexFuel) locations & future E-100 political foot-draggers look a little stupid, IMVHO.

The Iowa Corn 250 indy cars (with Danica Patrick..) run on 100% Ethanol every race. That leaves oil for lubrication, etc., its proper aplications.
