I don't know why gas-to-liquid doesn't get more attention. With these enormous new NG field discoveries and extraction techniques, converting this plentiful source into liquid fuels could be a truly realistic way to lessen dependence on foreign sources of crude.

In addition, converting gas to liquid synfuels would allow usage of the existing delivery system infrastructure as well as enabling our transportation fleet (cars and trucks) to utilize the fuel without the limitations of burning straight NG or the conversions necessary for same.

A Texas company says that it has developed a cheaper and cleaner way to convert natural gas into gasoline and other liquid fuels, making it economical to tap natural-gas reserves that in the past have been too small or remote to develop.

The company behind the technology, Dallas-based Synfuels International, says that the process uses fewer steps and is far more efficient than more established techniques based on the Fischer-Tropsch process.

HOpefully, these big finds will wake up the govt to the possibilities. As you pointed out, we're already seeing both Dems and GOP getting on the train with NG.
