Maybe so, James. But if I was the head of the GOP, I'd be worried about my party's future with so many scientists against it.

One problem is who is a scientist. Are scientists people who work in science departments of universities? Academic environments are left oriented and people have to be liberal to even survive there. I suppose they probably counted folks who work for govt agencies. Again, liberal environments.

But did this survey count researchers who work in industry (and btw oil and gas companies, like all other industries, have scientific research depts - reckon they're filled with liberal scientists?). Doubtful.
