Years ago I used to live in Iowa City and took up horse back riding. They had a stable a few miles out of town, rolling hills, nice riding area. After I'd been coming there for a while I got tired of riding the same old nags so I asked the stable hand for a horse with some spirit.... Well, the horse they brought me looked pretty nasty, knobby knees etc but I soon found out that it had plenty of spirit...<g>

I tried mounting in the yard but as soon as I did that sucker reared right up on me. I stuck to him like glue, calmed him down, dismounted and walked him to the trail head. I broke a nice firm switch off an oak and waved it in front of his face as I told him in my most sincere tone that I was going to beat the crap out of him with the switch unless he did exactly what I wanted.... I remounted with no resistance and proceeded to rub his rump with that switch when I wanted his attention, best ride I ever had.....<g>

Hint, all those horses are whip trained.....
