Shopping for health care across state lines would only work with adequate federal regulation. If a health care insurance company doing business on a national scale decides to screw the consumer, where the consumer go for redress? Answer: The federal courts. That is not an adequate answer. Many states have done a good job of regulating insurance companies which is why so many insurance companies wish to get rid of state regulation.
