If you did a poll, I wonder how many would say they are better off today than they were before they were "liberated'.

A poll taken in Feb. 2009 showed that 64% of Iraqis preferred a democracy over an islamic state (19%) or "strong leader" (14%).

I would say that, more than any other poll, tells the story. Other items from the same poll are significant, as well --

79% also believe that "reconciliation and cooperation" between Sunnis and Shiites is likely (this, of course, is contrary to what we've been told by the Left on this thread -- that these two groups can NEVER get along).

It will be a few years after the US withdrawal before we can develop a meaningful sense of whether the Iraqi people can appreciate their liberation.

If you did a poll in the U.S., I wonder how many would say they are better off today than they were four years ago.
