Hi Haim,

That's good advice as far as I am concerned... ( except for the girl part - you are on your own with that one).

Another rule which seems to work with me -after the big win, quit for at least a day...

I know I had 3rd place in those trading contests sewed up twice and then tossed it right out the window because I just HAD to go back and make another trade.

My father used to say... don't let money burn a hole in your pocket... which was tto say, just because you made some money - you don't HAVE to spend it... at least not right away!

Thanks for sharing,

Bill

Haim, I agree 100% about not making decisions on the fly. I tend to make bad decisions when I don't think things through, and I've also managed to screw myself on the tax front when I trade in haste.

My game plan has been to stay mostly in cash/bonds and this has been my plan since Dow 7000, and it turns out I haven't missed out on too much since my bonds are up a few percent and when I add that to the dividends that puts me about even or slightly ahead of the Dow post 7000. I've been waiting for VGEMJ (GE Jan 1999 Put @50) to hit 1 for some time now so I could load up as my Kahuna play - it got close but has since slipped away. I still think I have a chance to pick them up though .

Bill, you don't have to worry about being usurped by the S+P 500 probabilities site Ibexx pointed us to. So far in 6 days the outcome which it gave the highest probability has yet to occur, and it only gave a 9% probability of a drop of > 1% on Monday! I'll post a summary when I have a couple of months worth of data.
