I went back and re-read the Alactel News Release and Telechoice's news release and found some interesting points:

1. The news release came from Alcatel NOT BC

2. There were no hard numbers provided

3. "pending successful contract negotiations." "expects to deploy...beginning first half of 98"

Key words being "PENDING" & "EXPECTS". This to me means, maybe, could be, it's possible...NOT DEFINITE

Remember "Westell in the meanwhile will be moving full speed ahead with its own DSLAM plans in order to hopefully offset the Alcatel award".

Maybe this is why GS waits for WSTL's customers to make the announcements so that the announcement is done accurately? GS at the last CC did say that WSTL would NOT get the LION share of every contract and wasn't aware that Alcatel had the lion share of BC's contract?

"If DSL services take off in the near term, Westell could
find itself in a good position and Alcatel may have trouble justifying
why deployed CAP lines should be replaced with Alcatel DMT. "
