Yes, of course the gov't was wrong to take over GM. They should have let GM and the other auto makers fail. That would have hastened the day when new lean companies focused on the products of the future would take their place. It's called creative destruction. Government interference in this process is not usually a good thing. However, make no mistake, electric cars and other alternatives to the ICE car are coming. Will they take hold and completely transform the industry? I'm betting they will. However, it's still too early to say with certainty what will happen.
