We used nails on our deck eons ago when we built it.......or rather he built it. The boards get so dry in the Summer the nails pop up. I used to bang them back down every fall but finally gave that up. For obvious reasons, we wear shoes on our deck.

Trying to make me cry, huh? It's almost working. LOL! :=)

I think my screws are the right kind, but I just don't like them. Anyway, they were delivered with the decking material.

Hopefully, all but the step is under the porch roof, so not too much weather on it. Just enough to make the paint lift so I had to rebuild it.
