I think these analysts were bored - Intel gave essentially no real numbers - just "guidance". They seemed to talk in riddles.

These same analysts have become accustomed to the more agressive, flamboyant style of Jerry Sanders (AMD) or the always optimistic Cyrix crew (Jay Swent).

With Intel's spokespeople sounding very remote, very deliberate, they were left with "impressions" and not hard facts.

So they created some facts of their own.
