Amazing that liberals feel compelled to take up Saddam's causes. Iraq's independent governments prior to Saddam didn't claim Kuwait. Saddam himself only claimed it after he failed to annex Iran's Khuzistan province, which he also claimed as part of Iraq.

The ambassador in question did not give Saddam a green light either.
