What's Hollywood to Do?

Victor Davis Hanson
The Corner

Over the last eight years we saw Fahrenheit 911, Syriana, Redacted, Rendition, Stop Loss, Lions for Lambs, In the Valley of Elah, and a host of other movies released about the U.S. war on terror and the Iraqi conflict. The general theme was that George Bush lied and so destroyed the Constitution and put us into Iraq, where we are waging an amoral war, among other unmentionables.

Are there additional such movies in the pipeline?

After all, U.S. policy under President Obama has largely adhered to the Petraeus/Bush plan in Iraq; Obama actually accelerated operations in Afghanistan where losses are spiking. Renditions and tribunals continue. So do Predator strikes, as well as wiretaps and intercepts. Guantanamo, while not in the daily news as before, remains open. Have suddenly, say, between November 2008 and today, the above policies changed in any measurable manner, or, was the furor simply that the policies per se were never the problem, just the person who implemented and oversaw them? Take him away, and presto, the same policies become fine — and thus no longer warrant the best and brightest in Hollywood to offer much needed exposés?

All of which poses the question: What is Hollywood to do now? Do a hit piece on Panetta's CIA? Obama and the new opium war in Afghanistan? Robert Gates's unlawful Pentagon? The back-room deals of Hillary Clinton at State? In nine months, we went from lions to lambs?

The poll numbers are clearly dropping. I guess you don't know that Gallup has a steady base of internet people they poll via the net. You can sign up for it too Kenneth. That way you can vote Obama every day. Only one per email address now lol

Kenneth, I am absolutely right and his numbers will slide down further. They have to when people start hurting more as they will, and they see how out of control spending truly is in Washington.

Ex-lawmaker Oxley to face charges
Police: Ex-lawmaker lied to avoid arrest

A .9:20 AM -- Report: Oxley surrenders
Former Democratic candidate Dennie Oxley II surrendered this morning at the City-County Building on charges he impersonated a state lawmaker to avoid arrest, WRTV (Channel 6) reported.
EARLIER -- Ex-lawmaker Oxley to face charges
A former state legislator and recent candidate for lieutenant governor faced misdemeanor charges Wednesday in an incident in which he is accused of pretending to be an active lawmaker to avoid a public-intoxication arrest.

The incident involving Dennie Oxley II at a Downtown Indianapolis gas station last week quickly attracted attention, and Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi opted to seek criminal penalties.
A police officer arrived about 1 a.m. Friday at the Citgo station in the 400 block of East Ohio Street to find Oxley, 38, walking away while a 21-year-old woman lay facedown on the ground, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The former Democratic state representative from Southern Indiana had glassy eyes and slurred speech and was carrying a pair of high-heeled shoes, police said.
Police searched Oxley's wallet and found an old ID card identifying him as a state representative, the affidavit says, and Oxley claimed to be serving in the General Assembly's special session.
Officers released Oxley to a friend, court documents say, because the Indiana Constitution offers legislators limited immunity from arrest during a General Assembly session.
Marion Superior Court documents that leveled charges of impersonation of a public servant and public intoxication against Oxley gave no details about his relationship with the woman.
She was a former intern for Indiana House Democrats and was working behind the scenes during the special legislative session, which ended Tuesday.
The woman's uncle, Rep. David Niezgodski, D-South Bend, said she had been staying at his condo, across Ohio Street from the gas station.
Prosecutors don't expect to charge her. She was taken to a hospital because of her condition, Brizzi said.
"Mr. Oxley was the one who betrayed her trust," Brizzi said

demoRATs mute on gasoline price : WASHINGTON (Reuters) — United States consumer prices rose at a slightly faster-than-expected 0.7 percent pace in June, but the bulk of the increase was due to soaring gasoline prices and the core measure of inflation remained relatively tame, government data on Wednesday showed.

The Labor Department said the rise in the Consumer Price Index was the largest since July 2008. Wall Street analysts polled by Reuters had forecast a 0.6 percent increase, compared with the 0.1 percent gain reported in May.

Gasoline prices jumped 17.3 percent last month, the largest increase since September 2005, and explained the bulk of the increase in the index, the Labor Department said.

Oh bummer! The only numbers that count are the numbers on election day. Those daily hours spent going over focus group polls are a waste of time as far as I am concerned. Does the anointed one have an agenda or is he focus group poll driven? Will he abandon his socialist agenda to answer the focus group polls? The more things change the more they stay the same.

Oh bummer ! Yeah those boos you heard were not for the anointed one but for his White Sox jacket. Besides he threw a perfect strike too. Never mind those videos that show otherwise. They were most likely doctored by the right wing loons.
