Then we agree- people should pay as much as they can for all the services. If they want socialism, they should have to pay for it. If they don't want socialism, then they will have to learn to live with the ugliness that can accompany not taking care of other people in the society. It's a choice. I choose socialism and don't mind paying for it, and think other people should pay too. But I view the whole thing like insurance. Not everyone looks at the world that way, nor do they imagine they need insurance- usually the same cretins who don't have insurance and who then want other people to finance their lack of foresight...
