This helps me to understand the mindset of so many evangelicals on the Right: Their disdain for science Their scorn for intellectuals Their rejection of "book learning" (unless the book is the bible) Their support for GWB's gut decisions (code for God's will) Their support for Palin's know-nothingism Even their zeal for intervention in the MidEast as a way to hasten the End Times... It is no wonder we have trouble finding common ground - we are talking practical politics and they are talking a religious worldview.
