I'm for broad based taxes. I hope Obama taxes everyone making more than 75k a year. I hope he changes his mind. He certainly is able to change his mind. I won't find that a "lie". I'll simply like the fact that he has adapted to something more in line with the way I think things ought to be.

But I think you fail to appreciate the gestalt of Obama. I like that he is educated, and thoughtful, and willing to change. I like that he was proactive about the recession, and despite the gloom and doom in some quarters (in fact because of the howling of certain people who always seem to be contrarian indictators) I've made some pretty nice investments recently :-)

So I thank you and your brothers in politics, and what you see as a "lie", I see as a goal. I think he probably thought he really could do that. The economic cycle wasn't his fault, and it wasn't Mr. Bush's (and you'll not find me blaming Bush for it either.) I never thought Mr Bush senior should have been cracked on the head for "Read My Lips" either- I think he made the smart decision, which is change when change is warranted.

But whatever. I don't expect to convince you. I hope you don't expect to get anywhere with me. I'm happy with Obama's performance so far. Not perfectly happy, but happy enough. And please don't talk to me about "honest" debate. That's impossible when the biases are too high. You may think I'm too biased, and I certainly think you are- there's no "honest" between us, nor do I think either one of us would ever think the other honest.
