Which has exactly nothing to do with the issue.

I made no statement about Atkins, but he is absolutely correct that her response was totally appropriate in the circumstances, and frankly, any other response would have been gross incompetence. She had no directions from Washington, and as a result, the only proper response is "We don't get involved in Arab-Arab disputes".

No. His comment was specifically addressing April Glaspie's remarks and came during an interview 10 years after the fact. He was specifically stating that there was no confusion as to what was meant by her remarks.

Ask Pollack. He was a military analyst for the CIA who specialized in the Persian Gulf. If he says it and you disagree, well, I think I have to side with him.
