If he is unable to obtain the data it's because he is incompetent. All the data is out there. How do you think Santer got the data? He isn't actually taking data measurements- he is doing data manipulations. To ask the guy doing the manipulations for the data when you want to "check" the data, is like asking the guy who makes the food for "samples" if you want to check the purity of food. If your guys wants to run complex simulations he should go out and get his own data, as Santer did.

If you looked at Santer's work you would see all the data is sourced- and the source is not Santer. So I think you are barking up the wrong tree. Your man wants a shortcut, in that he expects someone else to do his data collection for him, when it is all clearly sourced. That's just not the way science works. You have to put in a little more effort than just writing whiney letters to people.
