how long does it need to take to regenerate to be considered lost? you can replant in the redwood region, so why not cut the old things down??? there is a reason beyond being able to regrow. and why not cut down the forests of brazil and just plant some stuff back there? there is a reason. and why should we pay to put in roads for the megacompanies to get to the trees? if they want them, they can pay to get to them. and new growth is not old growth, and it sure ain't virgin forest, of which hardly any remains in america.
