Ahmadinejad didn't win at all. If he had been able to win honestly, they wouldn't have had to announce fake results ... and announced results were obviously fake - showing Ahmadinejad winning big everywhere (getting 2/3 of the votes nationwide) even in Mousavi's home city. Nobody believes that. BWT Ahmadinejad barely won in 2005, winning in a second round of runoff elections that people believed then were tampered with. So he would have had to get a lot more popular as the economy has worsened.

The people of Iran have watched as the Great Satan elected a man with the middle name of Hussain who has relatives in Africa and a Muslim father. All the while, they have no real choice who their elected leaders are. The very fact that Obama was elected in this country destroys the illusion of freedom the Iranians and other Muslims thought they had.

I don't know that you can make big assumptions about Obama's election being earth-shaking and inspirational in other countries. It demonstrates to the world that America is a rare place where anyone can reach the top. Thats about it.

those ruling clerics are going to be spending more time controlling their own population instead of bothering us. That's a good thing for us. Gives us yet another lever against them.

Controlling their own population doesn't preclude "bothering us". Weak regimes often resort to cooking up international conflicts as a means of strengthening themselves at home by appealing to nationalist sentiment. Consider the Argentine junta's Falklands war. The internal conflict in Iran isn't good for us.
